Everything you need to know about signing up, running your business, and growing your earnings as an mCashPoint agent.
Getting Started
How much does it cost to become an mCashPoint agent?
Becoming an mCashPoint agent is completely free. There are no registration fees, no sign-up charges, and no hidden costs to get started.
What documents do I need to register?
You will need the following documents to complete your registration:
- A completed mCashPoint registration form
- A recent utility bill (as proof of address)
- A valid government-issued ID — NIN slip, driver's licence, or international passport
- Your next of kin's ID and their Bank Verification Number (BVN)
- A passport photograph
How much starting capital do I need?
We recommend a minimum of ₦100,000 in your agent account before you begin trading. This gives you enough float to comfortably handle most daily transactions for your customers.
How quickly can I get started?
Once you submit your documents, onboarding takes as little as 30 minutes. We aim to get you up and running the same day.
Can I operate from anywhere in Nigeria?
Yes. You can operate as an mCashPoint agent from any location across Nigeria. There are no geographic restrictions on where you can run your business.
Will I receive training?
Yes. After your account is set up, your assigned sub-super-agent provides comprehensive operational training to make sure you can handle every transaction confidently from day one.
Do I receive branding materials?
Yes. All new agents receive branded materials — including signage and display items — to help customers identify your outlet as an authorised mCashPoint agent point.
Why is my BVN required?
Your Bank Verification Number (BVN) is required by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) as part of agent banking compliance. It confirms that the personal information you provide is accurate and verifiable, protecting both you and your customers.
Your Account
Can I run my agent account from more than one location?
Yes. You can create separate user accounts for additional locations, all linked to your main mCashPoint agent account. Each location operates independently while staying connected to your network.
Can I transfer my agent account to someone else?
No. Agent accounts are non-transferable. This is a CBN compliance requirement to ensure that all agent banking activity is tied to a verified individual.
How do I get a statement of account?
Send your request by email or WhatsApp to our support team. Include your agent ID and the date range you need, and we will send your statement promptly.
I am seeing “Invalid Access Token” — what should I do?
Log out of the app and log back in as admin. This usually resolves the issue immediately. If the problem persists, contact our support team.
I have a new phone. How do I get my account working again?
Follow these steps to set up your account on a new device:
- Download the mCashPoint app from your app store
- Request or generate an activation code (via the portal or our support team)
- Log in with your admin credentials
- Pair the new phone to your pin pad
How do I get an activation code?
You can generate one yourself by logging into the portal at mcashpoint.com with your admin credentials. Alternatively, contact our support team and we will issue a code for you.
Your Terminal
Does my pin pad need a SIM card or data plan?
No. Your pin pad does not require a SIM card or active data subscription. It connects to the mCashPoint app on your phone to process transactions.
What paper roll does the pin pad use?
None at all. mCashPoint uses digital e-receipts, so there is no need for paper rolls. Customers receive their receipts electronically, saving you the ongoing cost of paper supplies.
My pin pad will not pair automatically. What should I do?
With the pin pad powered on, go to your account settings in the app and re-download your keys. This resets the pairing process. If the problem continues, contact our support team.
A customer was debited but the transaction did not go through. What should I do?
Ask the customer to visit their bank and complete a dispense error form. The bank will investigate and reverse the funds if the transaction failure is confirmed. Advise the customer to keep their transaction reference number to hand.
Transactions
Do I need my pin pad for every transaction?
No. The pin pad is only required for cash withdrawals (POS transactions). Bill payments, airtime top-ups, and fund transfers can all be completed directly from the app without the pin pad.
A transfer, bill payment, or airtime top-up has failed. How do I resolve it?
Take a screenshot of the failed transaction and send it to us via WhatsApp. Our team resolves all transaction disputes within 30 minutes. Make sure the screenshot clearly shows the transaction reference, date, time, and amount.
